Students from the Department of Food, Nutrition and
Consumer sciences DFTNCS conducted
an EXHIBITIONS held at SUA main campus, MULTI PURPOSE HALL. basically
all the demonstrators and presenters did a quite good job with
a surprising demonstrations made by the Family and Consumer students who
had one day and one night day to prepare themselves to show the audience what
real is FAMILY AND CONSUMER STUDIES
It started with FAMILY EDUCATION desk, a good job was done by Respectus Langaeli, Rajabu Athumani and Elizabeth Mwendi. on this table , the demonstrators used the space for educating the audience and visitors who visited there about firstly; the meaning of family consumer, decision making and problem solving, child development psychology and family life education. generally this desk gave the visitors the overview of the course "family and consumer studies". everyone who visited this table was satisfied with the short time lesson. those who took the course in less advantaged way they came out full satisfied and aware.
Then there was a next desk, which i can say it was the most eye catching desk of all the demonstrations in the hall, "family resources management & craft and design" the objects which where been demonstrated made at least every person pass to have a look in the place, good enough even the other demonstrators from "human nutrition and food science" wanted to learn from this desk.
we are all used to dispose of the bottles after consuming the product, did you know that the family consumer students can turn them into home materials for decorations???????
do you see those bracelets?? they are made from plastic bottles which were to be disposed of after using the water on it. everything in that table was made using the materials which were to be dumped like papers, bottles, plastics, irons and fabrics
- look at this flower and its vessel made from an empty champagne bottle coiled with colored threads to make an impressive look. nice work from third year students (Elizabeth Thomas, Janeth Ringo and Josephine Materu)
look at these picture too, they were voted to be the best and every one wanted to take them, ready to pay for them, but unfortunately they weren't for sale. Made from magazine papers and sprayed with car paints by artistically placing tree branches to create a wonderful work of art. any one would like to have them...!!!!!

the third desk was specifically made for pattern drafting, clothing designs, leather and fabrics works.
on this table, the demonstrators explained theoretically how to prepare batiks, leather belts, important and use of pattern in cloth preparation. few materials were displayed and most of all people were able to know their clothing sizes and shoe sizes. preparation of dyed clothes, transformation of patterns into fabrics and cuttings was also taught in this desk.

further more, consumer education was also been given by Mr Kibaso, Gabriel. who is the consumer, what are the consumer rights, what are problems faced by consumers, consumers protection bodies like TBS, TFDA,TFNC and Government Chief Chemist. Audience was educated on importance of warranty and how the warranty works.
Food scientists and Nutritionists also had their places where they gave out their demonstrations and performances. i will talk about this on next publication.
